Feed-In-Time (FIT) Fed-batch Media

Most of the industrial biotechnology processes are conducted in fedbatch mode due to the reduction of overflow metabolism of the expression host and the general higher productivity of this controlled process. But why is everybody still screening for production strains under batch conditions? The answer is easy. Up to know, there was no solution to perform fedbatch fermentations in reactors smaller than 0.25 L and on the other hand high producers will only be found in screening of hundreds or thousands of different clones. With the new FIT fedbatch media this bootleneck is released now. The FIT fedbatch media are designed to release glucose from higher polysaccharides within the medium solution. The glucose release is controlled by enzymatic hydrolysis of the polysaccharides. By a simple variation of the enzyme concentration the glucose release rate and therefore also the growth and protein expression can be diversified. Thus, experiments under a broad variety of growth rates and gen regulation is now possible. Apply Feed-In-Time fedbatch media and get cells and protein just in time when you need them!
