m2p-labs launches RoboLector S for automated media optimization

The new automation platform has been developed for media optimization studies and offers unique benefits to scientists.

m2p-labs steps further into automation for bioprocess development. The company launches a new RoboLector version ‘S’ at the BPI Europe conference in Prague and Interphex 2012 in New York.  ‘S’ stands for smart and small. The new automation platform has been developed for media optimization studies and offers unique benefits to scientists:

  • Automated media optimization
  • Small footprint to install in standard clean benches
  • Applicable for DoE
  • Cost effective
  • Ideally suited for BioLector experiments

Media optimization experiments are very often limited due to the complex liquid-handling practice when working with shake flasks and fermenters. Microbioreactors such as the Flowerplate and CellCulture Plate offer new possibilities to increase throughput and at the same time reduce the culture volumes. 48 parallel fermentations can now run automatically under controlled conditions and with online monitoring of the most important fermentation parameters such as, biomass concentration, pH and/or DO. The RoboLector ‘S’ is the logical advancement in the application of microbioreactors. Today more fermentations can be run more easily with additional information output. The automated media preparation at volumes of 0.5 to 2 ml is a further step towards a more sophisticated approach in bioprocess development and thus providing an ideal tool for QbD and PAT.
