Micro bioreactor technology launched at Biotechnica

High content screening with the BioLector technology.

The BioLector is the first system which monitors multiple fermentation parameters online in 48 or 96 microreactors.

m2p-labs GmbH, specialist of microreaction systems, launched its micro bioreactor system, the BioLector Technology, at the Biotechnica Fair (9–11 October) in Hanover/Germany.

The BioLector Technology is a microfermentation system for High-Content-Screening. The BioLector is the first system which monitors multiple fermentation parameters online in 48 or 96  microreactors. The microplate based system can detect biomass, protein concentration, pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) all in parallel out of each well. Working volumes of 100µL to 1000µL can be chosen. Due to the rigorous and continuous shaking (200 – 1800 rpm) of the microplates at defined conditions, cells can be cultivated under unlimited conditions and therefore results are easily scalable to higher production scales. Oxygen transfer coefficients (kLa) higher than 500 1/h are reachable. Gas atmosphere can be adapted to different cell types.

BioLector Applications:

  • clone Screening
  • media optimisation
  • systems biology
  • high throughput protein expression
  • inhibition and toxicity tests
  • quality control

The system can be used manually as a bench top system or can be integrated in standard liquid handling system and therefore completely automated.

After several ß-test installations in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and continuous optimisation of the system, m2p-labs is now glad to present the serialtype of the BioLector at the Biotechnica.
